We completed our portable chicken tractor which looks a bit like a chuck wagon from an old western. Using aluminum signboards, cedar shakes, pvc pipe, old bicycle wheels, and greenhouse plastic we assembled this unit to be pushed around the field for the chickens to roost in and lay their eggs. We are using portable electric fence netting to confine them and protect from predators. The chickens do a great job picking parasites out of cow dung and then distributing it around the field. In return the eggs have a rich orange yoke and are delicious. Come join us for breakfast sometime!
