Volunteering at Coram Deo Farm
Coram Deo Farm welcomes individuals interested in experiencing homestead life, learning practical skills, and participating in the daily work of a small Christian farm in rural Maine.
Our 65-acre property offers opportunities to learn about sustainable agriculture, animal husbandry, renewable energy, food preservation, and traditional homesteading skills.
We participate in the WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) program, which connects volunteers with farms offering hands-on learning experiences.
What to Expect
Life on the farm is rewarding, but it requires hard work, patience, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
Depending on the season and current projects, volunteers may participate in:
- Planting, cultivating, and harvesting vegetables
- Greenhouse work and composting
- Caring for sheep, cattle, chickens, and other livestock
- Orchard maintenance and maple sugaring
- Firewood preparation and woodland management
- Building maintenance and construction projects
- Food preservation and other traditional homesteading activities
- Renewable energy and off-grid projects
We encourage volunteers to ask questions, share their experiences, and learn alongside us. We don’t claim to know everything, and some of the most rewarding experiences come from solving problems together.
Accommodations and Daily Life
Depending on availability and individual arrangements, volunteers may stay in one of our rustic guest buildings.
Our accommodations reflect the practical, relatively simple lifestyle of the farm. Some facilities use solar electricity, propane cooking equipment, and composting toilets.
WWOOF arrangements generally involve an agreed exchange of help for food and accommodation, rather than paid employment. We discuss expectations, schedules, meals, and lodging with prospective volunteers before confirming a stay.
Faith, Fellowship, and Community
Coram Deo Farm was established around the conviction that our work, relationships, and stewardship of the land should be lived Coram Deo—before the face of God.
Our Christian worldview shapes the farm’s mission, but we recognize that visitors come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
We value hospitality, mutual respect, thoughtful conversation, and opportunities to learn from one another.
Farm life isn’t all work. We also enjoy music, singing, fellowship around the campfire, outdoor recreation, and community gatherings.
