Although they're not (all) edible, we love seeing the flowers in bloom! God gave us some plants for food, while others to admire their beauty. There is a certain aesthetic to a field of wild flowers. They are the Lord's promise of new growth, and a reminder to stop and "smell the roses" once in a while. We also have some peonies planted, bleeding hearts, petunias, and a couple surprise sunflowers coming up in the garden! The pollinators will be very happy this year.

Today was the perfect day for planting, so that's what we did! The peas and beets are in the ground, and we pulled up a lot of weeds and found tons of dandelions. Those will be great for making tea and putting in salads. We used the broadfork to loosen the soil and added some rich compost. There are chives and garlic already coming up in the garden that returned from a previous year. We also have three trays of seedlings started indoors. So far we have broccoli, kale, sweet peppers, basil, jalapenos, three different kinds of cabbage, and more!

The days are finally getting longer at Coram Deo farm. After a freezing cold day last Tuesday, the sunshine came out on Wednesday (03/03/2021) and we were able to do a little bit of trimming on the apple trees. We also adjusted the solar panels to get the most out of the sunlight this spring season. These panels are adjusted based on the angle of the sun throughout the year.
