We had a great year of carrots, beets, turnips, rutabagas, peas and beans. Not bad for 2nd year farmers. Unfortunately not everything went as planned and we lost many cucumbers and squash from the attack of dreaded cucumber beetles and squash bugs. It's tough work turning pasture land into productive gardens. Our goal is to provide %75 of out total food needs on our own property. We need to be realistic - chocolate, coffee and coconuts are must have foods that do not grow well in Maine gardens.
